We walked in and it took forever for them to even come to the host stand. Bathroom and kitchen looked dirty. I recommend going to Puerto Vallarta in CB, instead.

Good food at a great price.. The waitress was on the spot with everything, with a friendly smile. The only problem I had was one female that was seating people, and running the cash register had the worst attitude.... I will be back for another lunch some day, and if she is there I'll get a picture and a name to post. So let's hope she's in a better mood.......

Love this place! Good food and good service. Reasonable prices. We go here quite often and we will continue to frequent this delicious establishment.

Consistently good food at this location. Yes, it's not authentic mexican food but the owners of La Mesa have found the perfect blend of mexican / mexican american that makes these places such a success.

3.5 stars. Too much Boxer BBQ left me full before dinner out, so I opted for chips and salsa and my share of a pitcher of frozen strawberry margarita. Margarita's were tasty. A nice kick of tequila and bits of strawberry seed - good, fresh strawberries. Chips were good and the salsa was mild and tangy. Ate my fair share. A nice place for drinks and a snack on a Friday night. Oh, and service was very friendly and attentive.

They've recently completely changed their menu and gone are your favorite standby Americanized Mexican dishes, like the combinations. The new menu is a big downgrade - there is more seafood which...eh, we're in the Midwest. There are NO vegetarian dishes on the new menu, and the prices have gone up A LOT. I was recently there with a group of 4 and the service was horrible. It was so slow we started to wonder if we'd been forgotten about, and if you've ever eaten here before you know that must be extremely slow, as the service used to be lightening quick. We used to eat here often but won't be going back anymore.

Only thing bad is if I was in a wheel chair how would I get in no buttons to push to make doors go open and stay do not like that.

Free chips n salsa. Salsa is fresh n tasty but not very spicy. Chips aregood enough that I can't tell if they are homemade or good bagged chips ala Nana's. I had the Guadalajara Special. Chicken burrito n chicken enchilada with pivot, salsa, lettuce, sour cream and a nice slice of avocado. Tasted good but seemed a lil watery? Runny? No heat (spice) at all. Wife had the beef quesidilla. Which looked amazing. She gave La Mesa a 4 based on it. She really liked that the beef was chinned and not ground. We both had waters on this visit but I know from prior experience that the margaritas are decent. I may have to join their tequila club. They have more than 100 tequilas. Club members get a gift bag for every 25 they try, only costs a buck to join, and whatever tequila your drinking. Most of the serving staff looked at least some part Mexican, which lends to an authentic type feel. We will definitely come again, but we will continue to search for a 'better' place. After living outside phoenix for a year the spice level and flavors at la Mesa seem way too mellow.

The food here is very good. What surprised me was the selection of the different Mexican dishes. I found a lot dishes that most other Mexican restaurants do not carry. I had the Enchiladas with white goat cheese and small salad. It was very good. The place is very nice and very clean. I will go back to this place with out any hesitation.

Just got some food to go and it was all delicious! The white cheese dip stood out from most places and everything was quite tasty! If you're in the area and need some Mexican, go here!

We dropped in for dinner with a party of 5, and were seated prompty at around 5:30 pm. This was $1.98 Margherita Wednesday, and we tried them, and for $2, you can't go wrong. Several of us ordered different things, and the food was hot and good. The chips were plentiful, as was the mild salsa. No complaints - all in all, a pretty good meal. I got out the door for $20 with tip for dinner and 2 $2 Margheritas.

Yuck. That's my word for this food. With the parking lot full of cars, we figured this is a *hot* spot for mexican food and was really excited to get a table! Oh.My .Gosh. WHAT a disappointment!!! I couldn't believe my order came in the way it did....a pile of mushy food on the plate. I ordered off their menu (equivalent of a chicken stir-fry type with veggies, mushrooms, just a tad bit of cheese.) It came back swimming in grease, melted cheese, overcooked frozen veggies. Chicken was rubbery. My hubby had fajitas--again, overcooked frozen veggies, rubbery meat, and swimming, SWIMMING in grease. Neither one of us ate it. Both plates when back uneaten. We went home and fixed ourselves something to eat. Rate one star....negative on the stars if there was one available!

I was on vacation in Omaha, Nebraska and a few of my friends took me to La Mesa. When you first walk in you quickly notice the restaurant's nice decorations and the vivid paints and colors. It is very clean and comfortable. Right when you sit at the table you are greeted and given water and chips with salsa. I wasn't a very big fan of the salsa. It was too mild for me and not very flavorful. For my drink I ordered Horchata. I have had several good ones in many different restaurants; however, La Mesa topped them all. For my meal I ordered Chile Rellenos (A la Carte). They were filled with cheese and were excellent. I also ordered the Jalisco Fajitas. It was a mixture of chicken, beef, and shrimp. The portion was very big and they were also very delicious. Our waitress was very kind and did a perfect job. My experience at this restaurant was very positive. If I am ever to visit Nebraska again I will definitely have La Mesa on my list of restaurants to visit.

La Mesa is always a winner! Consistent from loc 2 loc. Plus, chips and salsa while you wait. Recommend their carneasada plate!

La Mesa is a chain and we're starting to believe this is the best Mex-American food we're gonna find in Omaha. We discovered that none of the other Mexican restaurants in town (or out of town) are open on Sundays. Tonight was our second visit to this particular location. The salsa is delicious and tonight it was fresh. We could taste the cilantro, it's a little a less chunky than I like but for tomato squeamish people it's terrific. This chips aren't the best we've ever had but they're better than your typical corn chips from Baker's. Two top shelf margaritas later I had to tell myself it wasn't appropriate to holler "I love margaritas" at the top of my lungs, needless to say - they were alright. I ordered the carne asada and was pretty surprised when the waiter asked if I wanted beef or chicken...? isn't carne asada always steak? It was pounded really flat but overall I like it. And it came with a huge chunk of fresh avocado, which gave me points when I offered it to my girl friday who ordered a vegetarian combo: tostada, burrito and quesadilla.

Midwest Bland Mexican. There is nothing authentic about this place. Try Mexico Lindo on Broadway or if your in a rush, Alvarados (24hr Drive thru) also on Broadway.

My parents eat here because it's cheap, but have recently switched to frequenting Romeo's more often because they feel their dishes to be more flavorful. I think what pulls my parents here is the free chips and salsa, mostly. I do like that the salsa is spicy. Usually the only time I visit is with my parents when I'm visiting from Los Angeles. I order a cheese enchilada. The cheese is cheap but when I want something salty it most definitely hits the spot. Good drink deals on Wednesday nights, I believe - it's usually packed. $2 lime margaritas and $3 strawberry.

Fake Mexican food! They don't even use Monterey Jack cheese they use white American cheese for chiles rellenos!! Yuck!! They're enchiladas were hard tortilla like you can tell it wasn't cooked right! Nothing looks like how it looks in the menu! All though they do have a beautiful bar and it's a very pretty place on the inside!

Free salsa and chips! Salsa is amazing! It's by far the best i've had and not sure it's because I don't eat a lot. Has a strong cilantro taste. Yum yum! The place is aways clean and service is always good. i always get the shrimp tacos and they are excellent. The price my only gripe. It's expensive for what I get. A shrimp taco is $4!!! To me that's outrageous, but... I am still getting them. Margaritas are always good!

Could have been worse than it was. The salsa for your free chips comes in a little carafe, has the consistency of tomato juice, and is refrigerated. The stray shreds of cilantro and onion give it some chunkiness, and it's not as awful tasting as it sounds--but that could have been the saltiness of the salsa (which was gringo mild). Let me set everyone straight on the the Enchiladas Acapulco: shrimp and crab with cheese. It was "crab" and the cheese was limited to a few stray shards thrown across the plate to trick your eye into thinking there's more than there is. Service was friendly and the food came fast despite a packed lunch hour. That's a double-edged sword, given the sauces tasted canned.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
